Uncertainty continues to surround Pep Guardiola after the Manchester City manager confirmed he will soon hold important talks about his future with club chairman Khaldoon Al Mubarak. The Spaniard said a final decision over his future could arrive within days.

Recent reports from British media outlets, including the BBC, claimed Guardiola may leave City at the end of the season despite still having one year left on his contract. Former Chelsea manager Enzo Maresca, who previously worked as Guardiola’s assistant, has reportedly emerged as a leading candidate to replace him.

Following City’s 1-1 draw against Bournemouth, which officially ended their Premier League title hopes, Guardiola refused to dismiss the growing speculation. “I (will) talk with my chairman first,” Guardiola said. “And after that … we decide (whether) to have one more year, we talk about everything, we will decide.”

The Pep Guardiola future debate has dominated recent weeks as fans wait to learn whether his remarkable spell at City will continue. Guardiola explained that he wanted to focus fully on the team before discussing his plans publicly.

Since arriving in 2016, Guardiola has transformed Manchester City into one of the most successful clubs in world football. He has won 17 major trophies, including six Premier League titles and a historic treble during the 2022-23 season.

Despite missing out on the league title this year to Arsenal, City still secured both the FA Cup and League Cup. Guardiola also described himself as “the happiest man on the planet” to remain part of the club.

Do you think Guardiola should stay at Manchester City beyond next season?
