Veteran Nollywood actor Pete Edochie health concerns have come into focus after the actor disclosed that walking has become difficult for him. He also said he sometimes wakes up to find parts of his body swollen.
Edochie made the comments while visiting his ailing colleague, actor Emmanuel, in Accra, Ghana.
The visit took place on Wednesday during Edochie’s legacy tour.
While speaking to Emmanuel, Edochie shared details of his own health struggles as he tried to encourage his colleague.
The veteran actor said his condition has affected his movement. However, he added that he remains hopeful that his health will improve.
“Walking is a problem for me now,” Edochie said.
He also explained that he sometimes wakes up and notices swelling in parts of his body.
According to him, the swelling sometimes reduces after some time.
He used the experience to speak about his hopes and concerns as he grows older.
Edochie said he has been asking God to decide when his life should end. He added that he does not want his condition to place a burden on the people around him.
“I still have hope that I will recover,” the actor said.
He then appealed to God to take him when his time comes rather than allow him to become a burden to his family and those around him.
The Pete Edochie health disclosure came as he visited Emmanuel to offer support during the actor’s illness.
The veteran actor’s comments also highlighted the emotional challenges that can accompany serious health difficulties, particularly when they affect mobility and everyday activities.
Despite describing his difficulties, Edochie maintained that he still hopes to recover.
His remarks have drawn attention because of his long career in Nollywood and his continued presence in the Nigerian entertainment industry.
Edochie remains one of the most recognisable veteran actors in Nigerian cinema. He has appeared in numerous Nigerian films and television productions during a career spanning several decades.
His latest comments, however, focused less on his career and more on his personal experience with declining physical strength.
For now, Edochie has not indicated that he is giving up hope of recovery. Instead, he said he continues to trust God while dealing with the challenges affecting his health.
