Mauricio Pochettino, Paris Saint-Germain manager, apologised for celebrating Lionel Messi’s goal against Manchester City in the Champions League on Tuesday.
He also explained why he was excited after Messi made it 2-0 at the Parc des Princes.
He said: “For many years I watched Messi scoring goals, always with the opposite team.
“The first (goal) for our side, for my side, well I had to celebrate it, I am sorry!”
PSG moved to the top of the group with the win. Idrissa Gueye opened the scoring early in the first half, before Messi produced a moment of magic in the second half.
The 34-year-old played a neat one-two with Kylian Mbappe on the edge of the box before curling a first time shot past Ederson.
Messi’s goal sparked wild scenes of celebration on the home bench, which even the usually calm and composed Pochettino got involved in.
