The Lagos State Police Command has arrested popular TikToker Habeeb Hamzat, also known as Peller, following a viral video that captured him driving recklessly and crashing his vehicle during a live broadcast.
The arrest followed widespread public outrage over the incident, which occurred on Sunday, December 14, 2025, and raised serious concerns about public safety.
In a statement issued on Tuesday, the Police Public Relations Officer, SP Abimbola Adebisi, said the influencer’s actions posed a grave threat to his life and to other road users, prompting swift police intervention.
According to the police, Peller was seen engaging in dangerous driving that led to a serious road crash while livestreaming the act, a conduct described as highly irresponsible and potentially fatal.
The command stated that the suspect’s behaviour amounted to a deliberate act capable of causing loss of life, either to himself or to unsuspecting motorists and pedestrians.
Police authorities confirmed that the case file has been transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) for detailed investigation. They added that the outcome of the probe would be made public, after which the suspect would be charged to court in line with extant laws.
The Lagos State Commissioner of Police, CP Olohundare Jimoh, also issued a stern warning to social media influencers, content creators, and the general public against using digital platforms to promote or engage in reckless, dangerous, or unlawful acts.
He stressed that such actions would attract strict legal consequences, reaffirming the command’s resolve to enforce the law without fear or favour and to ensure public safety on Lagos roads.
The police further urged all road users to comply strictly with traffic regulations as part of collective efforts to maintain peace and safety across the state.
