Two people who purchased the stolen car that belonged to Mr. Kehinde Fatinoye, a former employee of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), and his wife, Bukola Fatinoye, were detained by Ogun State Police Command agents.
Three people, including the family’s driver, Lekan Adekanbi, who is the main suspect, killed the couple and their only kid, Oreoluwa.
The state police public relations officer, Abimbola Oyeyemi, revealed the identities of the two suspects in a statement made available to journalists in Abeokuta on Tuesday. The two suspects are Azeez Usman and Owolaja Aanuoluwapo.
Following the confession of individuals already detained in connection with the murder of the couple and their son, they were arrested at various sites throughout the state.
Usman reportedly paid 150,000 for the Hyundai car that was sold to him.
According to the statement, “Ogun State State Police Command operatives on Monday, February 13, 2023, apprehended the two suspects who purchased the stolen car of the deceased.” The statement also states that the Ogun State State Police Command is “determined to bring to justice all those directly or indirectly involved in the gruesome murder of Kehinde and Bukola Fatinoye and their only son Oreoluwa.”
Following the confession of the previously detained suspects, who told the police that the car was sold to Azeez Usman for a price of 150,000, the two suspects, Azeez Usman and Owolaja Aanuoluwapo, were apprehended at various locations throughout the state.
After killing the parents, the suspects took hold of their son OreOluwa and their adoptive son Felix Olorunyomi, bound them with rope, and placed them in the Hyundai car’s booth before driving them to the Ogun River Bridge at Adigbe area and tossing them into the river. The suspects left the automobile parked somewhere in Abeokuta’s Oke Ata neighborhood, but they later got in touch with Owolaja Aanuoluwapo, who went there and took the car to Azeez Usman’s workshop, where it was mutilated into bits and sold in parts.
The two suspects were properly informed that the car was stolen, yet they nevertheless decided to purchase it for £150,000, according to the police investigation.
All of the suspects are to be presented in court as soon as the investigation is over, according to an order from CP Frank Mba, the commissioner of police.
