Babatunji Wusu –

The families of officers who lost their lives while serving the country have received a check for N5.6 million from the Nigeria Police Force’s Sokoto State command.

On behalf of the Inspector General of Police (IGP), Kayode Egbetokun, the cash were given to the recipients by AIG Abubakar Lawal Daura, the Assistant Inspector General of Police in charge of Zone 10 Headquarters in Sokoto.

On Monday, Samuel Iliah received N3,432,269 from the IGP Family Group Life Assurance Scheme and welfare scheme; Attahiru Muhammad received N1,678,200.12; and Fatima Mannir received N500,000.

Throughout the presentation, Daura portrayed the Inspector General of Police as an extremely fervent individual who is concerned about the well-being of Nigerian Police Force officers and men, regardless of their age.

“It’s because of this enormous step that I am giving checks for N5,610,469.12 to the families and next of kin of the deceased under the “IGP’s Group Life Assurance Scheme” and IGP’s welfare program,” he said in his statement.

Daura added that the Police will never stop standing for those who have given their lives in defense of the nation’s peace and progress.

The guardians were asked to assist in the education of the families of the deceased police officers, and the Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP) urged the recipients to spend the funds wisely for the upkeep and well-being of the families.

Additionally, he stated that the goal of the IGP’s Group Life Assurance Scheme (GLAS) was to provide assistance to the bereaved police officers’ immediate relatives.

Daura made the declaration on Monday in response to a query from reporters.

In his remark, one of the beneficiaries, Samuel Iliah “thanked Almighty God for witnessing the day and appreciated the Inspector General of Police and the Assistant Inspector General of Police, Zone 10 headquarters, Sokoto, for coming to their aid, promising to make good use of the money as it comes in their time of need.”
