The Police in Kano have commenced investigation into the killing of a nine-year-old child, Najib Kamal, who was allegedly killed by hanging in Kuntau, Gwale local government area of Kano state.

The lifeless body of the child was found hung on a gate in his compound about two weeks ago.

Our reporter gathered that the police had arrested two suspects both of whom are Almajiri boys in connection to the gruesome murder of the innocent child.

The Almajiri boys identified as Sani Musa and Maharazu Yusuf were said to have been on errand duty for the family of the deceased before the incident.

Our reporter gathered that one of the suspects, Sani Musa had issues with the madam, who is the mother of the deceased over his attitude, after he had refused to carryout errands he had been assigned as a result of which the woman refused to give him food.

According to sources, Sani had absconded the house for three days and returned few hours before the incident occurred.

Malama Na’ima Rabi’u, mother of the deceased, said she was upstairs and was not aware of anything until evening when she was looking for her child that she was presented his lifeless body.

“I was upstairs sleeping and they were playing down stairs. In the evening, I sent a maid to call him and his siblings, thinking they were there playing at the gate, but when the girl came back she brought me the corpse of my son, Najib.

“There and then, I asked his younger brother Nabil what happened and he told me that when he came down he found his brother hung to a rope tied to the gate and that he called one of the Almajiri that was washing their clothes outside; his name is Maharazu to untie his brother.

“Maharazu came and brought him down and took him to one of the rooms. After that, the Almajiri came upstairs, collected his food, ate and left without telling me anything,” she explained.

She said apart from Sani Musa (the Almajiri), there was nobody at home but herself, the deceased and his siblings when the incident occurred.

Similarly, the father of the deceased, Malam Kamal Aminu Bala said the boy was confirmed to have died from hanging on arrival at the hospital.

He said, “When the deceased’s brother explained what happened, we asked Maharazu and he confirmed that he met the boy hung to the gate before he untied him and brought him down.

“He (Maharazu) also confirmed that before he entered the house to untie the lifeless body of the late child he saw the other Almajiri, Sani standing by the gate,” he narrated.

The state Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), DSP Abdullahi Haruna Kiyawa said the suspects are under investigation and would be charged to court after the investigation.
