The Police Service Commission (PSC) approved the promotion of 4,741 Inspectors nationwide following a recent board interview.

Of these, 4,708 Inspectors were promoted to unconfirmed Assistant Superintendents of Police, while 33 advanced to Senior Inspectors.

Additional promotions included 38 Specialist Deputy Superintendents to Superintendents and 29 Specialist Superintendents to Chief Superintendents.

Earlier in the plenary meeting held in Abuja on July 21, 2025, the Commission also promoted 12 Commissioners to Assistant Inspectors General, 16 Deputy Commissioners to Commissioners, and 28 Assistant Commissioners to Deputy Commissioners.

PSC Chairman DIG Argungu urged officers to demonstrate nationalism, dedication, and professionalism in service, reminding them to embody the role of a “friend next door” to the public.

The Police Service Commission has approved the promotion of 4,741 Inspectors across Nigeria following the completion of a nationwide board interview exercise. According to Ikechukwu Ani, Head of Press and Public Relations, 4,708 officers were elevated to the rank of unconfirmed Assistant Superintendent of Police, and 33 were promoted to Senior Inspectors.
In addition to these promotions, the Commission sanctioned the advancement of 38 Specialist Deputy Superintendents of Police to Superintendents and 29 Specialist Superintendents to Chief Superintendents. These decisions were part of the broader outcomes from the Commission’s plenary meeting held in Abuja on Monday, July 21, 2025.
The PSC also endorsed the elevation of 12 Commissioners of Police to the rank of Assistant Inspectors General, 16 Deputy Commissioners to full Commissioners, and 28 Assistant Commissioners to Deputy Commissioners.
Addressing the police officers, DIG Argungu, Chairman of the PSC, emphasized the importance of patriotism, unwavering dedication, and exemplary conduct, especially in daily engagements with the Nigerian public. He urged officers to embrace their role as “friends next door,” living up to the expectations of citizens. Furthermore, the Chairman assured officers that the Commission remains committed to championing improvements in their welfare and working conditions.
This comprehensive promotion exercise reflects ongoing efforts to motivate police personnel and strengthen leadership within the Nigerian Police Force.
