Following a tip, the Katsina State Police Command apprehended three people in connection with separate car thefts and armed robberies in Katsina.
ASP Abubakar Sadiq Aliyu, the Command’s Public Relations Officer, issued a statement confirming the arrests.
The statement reads: “On May 1st, 2024, at approximately 06:30 hours, the command arrested 45-year-old Sabi’u Musa in connection with a suspected case of armed robbery and car theft.”
“Detectives responded quickly after receiving a report of the theft of a Lexus saloon car (ash color, registration number LND 215 GD) at gunpoint in adjacent Kano State. They discovered the vehicle on the Katsina-Jiba road and, in coordination with Nigeria Customs Service agents on patrol, apprehended Musa in possession of the stolen car.
“During questioning, Musa admitted that he intended to sell the car in Maradi, Niger Republic.”
“Similarly, on April 27, 2024, at around 08:30 hours, the command’s Anti-Kidnapping Unit (AKU) got information regarding a stolen Vibe saloon automobile (white, registration number DKA 71 PX) from Kano State. Detectives soon tracked down the vehicle to the Liyafa roundabout in Katsina and detained its two occupants, 29-year-old Abdulaziz Ibrahim and 47-year-old Haruna Sani, both from Kano.
“During interrogation, Sani admitted to tricking the owner into giving him the automobile and intending to sell it in Katsina before being arrested. “The investigation is still ongoing.”
