The Presidency has reportedly withdrawn its trust in Ekiti State Governor, Biodun Oyebanji, over alleged ties between his predecessor, Kayode Fayemi, and the African Democratic Congress (ADC).
Isaac Fayose, younger brother to former Ekiti Governor Ayodele Fayose, made the claim in an Instagram video on Friday, accusing the Presidency of suspecting Oyebanji of possible defection ahead of the 2026 governorship election.
According to Fayose, Oyebanji was recently summoned to Aso Rock after former Minister of Transportation, Rotimi Amaechi, publicly alleged that Fayemi co-founded the ADC. This revelation, he said, sparked fears within the Presidency that Oyebanji could eventually pitch his tent with the opposition party.
Fayose further alleged that during the closed-door meeting, Oyebanji was ordered to sack commissioners considered loyal to Fayemi — a directive the governor reportedly carried out on his return to Ekiti.
He also claimed that the Presidency warned Oyebanji that the All Progressives Congress (APC) would conduct full primary elections before the next governorship race, eliminating the possibility of an automatic ticket for the incumbent.
“So you see now, if we no fit catch you, presidency fit catch,” Fayose said mockingly. “Presidency cannot trust you because your oga has one leg in ADC and the other in APC.”
The Ekiti Government and the Presidency have yet to issue an official response to the claims.
