The President Bola Ahmed Tinubu address to the nation has drawn sharp criticism from the Yoruba Ronu Leadership Forum, which accused the Nigerian leader of praising his administration while ignoring worsening economic hardship.
In a statement signed by its president, Akin Malaolu, the group argued that President Tinubu’s reforms had deepened poverty and weakened Nigerians’ purchasing power since he assumed office on 29 May 2023.
The forum claimed that the removal of fuel subsidies and the naira crisis had pushed many Nigerians into financial struggle. It also criticised the government over what it described as poor funding of capital projects and slow economic growth.
Furthermore, the group said the President failed to show enough empathy towards citizens facing rising living costs and unemployment.
The statement also challenged the administration to guarantee free and fair elections in 2027. According to the forum, the President should allow Nigerians to judge his reforms through the ballot box.
Meanwhile, the President Bola Ahmed Tinubu address to the nation marked his third year in office. However, critics continue to question the impact of his economic policies on ordinary Nigerians.
In addition, the forum insisted that Nigerians deserve transparency and accountability from their leaders during difficult economic times.
The President Bola Ahmed Tinubu address to the nation has continued to generate debate across political and civic groups in the country.
