Socio-political commentator Sam Amadi has praised the ADC primary elections, describing them as the best organised in Nigeria’s current electoral cycle.
In a post on X, Amadi argued that the ADC primary elections stood out because of the party’s “structured leadership” and organised systems. He, however, claimed that many other political parties conducted “flawed and fraudulent” primaries.
According to Amadi, the African Democratic Congress (ADC) delivered a more coherent process than most parties contesting elections across the country.
He also ranked the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) second. However, he accused the APC of running primaries that were “reckless and fraudulent” despite being ambitious and largely organised.
Amadi wrote that parties cannot successfully conduct direct primaries without clear membership records, proper systems and transparent rules. He added that meaningful primaries should not happen within a single day.
Instead, he argued that parties should spread the exercise over weeks or months to improve credibility and accountability.
Furthermore, Amadi criticised unnamed political parties, saying some of their primaries were “a joke.” His comments came as political parties continue internal contests ahead of future elections.
The commentator is known to support the Nigerian Democratic Congress (NDC) presidential hopeful, Peter Obi. Meanwhile, the NDC is currently conducting primary elections nationwide.
The debate over the credibility of party primaries has continued to dominate Nigeria’s political space. Analysts say transparent primaries could strengthen public trust in the electoral process.
