To mitigate the effects of the loss of gasoline subsidies, the Trade Union Congress has urged President Bola Tinubu to raise the minimum wage for employees in the nation.

It added that the resultant adjustment to Cost of Living Allowance should be taken into consideration and that should be completed before the end of June in order to execute the Petroleum Industry Act.

Festus Osifo, the president, and Nuhu Toro, the general secretary, respectively, stated in a joint statement that these demands were made as part of continuing negotiations with the administration.

In addition, they insisted that the “status quo ante of PMS pump price” be upheld while discussions are ongoing, according to Osifo, who also added that a state governors’ representative had to sign the communiqué and that all governors had to agree to enact the new minimum salary.
