Presidential Foreign Investment Promotion Council DG arraigned over alleged forgery

The Presidential Foreign Investment Promotion Council Director-General, Adeniyi Adeyemi, has been arraigned by the Federal Government over alleged forgery.

Adeyemi appeared before Justice Muhammed Umar of the Federal High Court in Abuja. He faces an eight-count charge linked to alleged forgery.

The Federal Government accused Adeyemi of forging an appointment letter allegedly issued by President Bola Tinubu.

According to the prosecution, the document was also purportedly signed by the Chief of Staff to the President, Femi Gbajabiamila.

The alleged appointment letter forms part of the case against Adeyemi, who is the Director-General of the Presidential Foreign Investment Promotion Council.

The Federal Government has described the council as an alleged fake agency. The charge centres on documents that Adeyemi allegedly presented as official government documents.

Earlier, police moved Adeyemi to court ahead of his arraignment. The development led to his appearance before the Federal High Court in Abuja.

Adeyemi now faces eight charges. However, the allegations remain matters for the court to determine.

The case will allow the prosecution to present its evidence and for Adeyemi to respond to the allegations against him.

The court will consider the evidence presented by both sides as the proceedings continue.

The case also highlights the legal consequences that can arise when individuals allegedly use forged government documents or claim official appointments without valid authority.
