Thousands of Permanent Voters’ Cards, or PVCs, have been found in the office of the Chairman of Ariaria International Market in Aba, according to Ikechuckwu Emetu, the deputy governor of Abia State.
Emetu announced this in Umuahia during the 10th session of the media workshop for journalists and other media professionals hosted by Vision Africa Radio Station.
He claims that the find came about during a recent operation against extortion and unlawful levies in the Ariaria International Market, Aba.
He pointed out that the state government’s ongoing crackdown on extortion and illegal charges levied on transporters and dealers in the state has resulted in the arrest of a total of 23 people to date.
He emphasized that Governor Alex Otti’s resolve to provide Abians with relief from decades of criminal activity in the state was reflected in the campaign.
“Like the Chairman of Ariaria, we’re taking those guys off the streets and making arrests,” he declared. We discovered thousands of PVCs in his office, which led to his imprisonment. All we had to do was pick him up.
And because they were constantly collecting tolls and taxes, we had to pick up those who were robbing the market ladies.
The Deputy Governor of Abia stated, “I have no regrets being called King Harold if I am doing the right thing.
Speaking about the importance of media training, Emetu urged young people and media professionals to take advantage of social media to help the state thrive.
He praised Bishop Sunday Onuoha and Vision Africa for organizing the program and emphasized how it will improve the skills of state media professionals.
