After six days in captivity, Mr. Moses Egbodo, a Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) candidate for State Assembly, was released by his kidnappers on Saturday.
To represent the Obi State constituency in the upcoming general elections, Egbodo is a PDP State Assembly candidate.
He was allegedly kidnapped last Monday while traveling from Makurdi to Otukpo in a commercial vehicle together with three other people.
After the ransom of N3 million was paid, he was released.
The chairman of the Obi Local Government Area, Mr. Tony Akpa, confirmed the victim’s release and stated that the State Assembly candidate was freed on Saturday night.
Yes, the man was released yesterday (Saturday) at around 7:30 pm after spending six days in the kidnappers’ den, Akpa confirmed over the phone with our correspondent.
“He and three other people were abducted last Monday while traveling from Makurdi to Otukpo. He got into a business vehicle in the park, and the kidnappers picked them up between Taraku and the burned bricks before Otukpo.
They sought N4 million as ransom at first, but only ended up getting N3 million.
The police public relations officer, Catherine Anene, denied knowledge of the kidnapping when called.
