Remo Stars head coach Tiago Conde says his team is fired up and determined to make history as they battle South African heavyweights Mamelodi Sundowns in the CAF Champions League second-round clash this Sunday in Abeokuta.
Conde, speaking ahead of the first-leg tie at the MKO Abiola Stadium, admitted the fixture will be a major test but insisted his players are ready to fight for group-stage qualification — a first in the club’s history if achieved.
“It’s a big challenge for us and for our story. It is a privilege to face a team like Mamelodi Sundowns,” said Conde. “Our focus is clear — to do what we have never done before. It will be difficult for both sides, but it’s eleven against eleven, and after 90 minutes, the decision will be made.”
The reverse fixture will be played next week in South Africa, where the aggregate winner will seal a spot in the prestigious group stage of Africa’s elite club competition.
