Rivers and Cross River States have expressed their willingness to pay the new minimum wage.
The Rivers State Chairman, Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC), Beatrice Itubu, said the state government would not have any issue paying the consequential adjustments approved by the Federal Government.
The chairman said this recalling Governor Nyesom Wike’s promises some time ago that, he would pay whatever that is agreed upon by the Federal Government and labour.
In the same vein, the Chief Press Secretary to the Cross River State governor, Christian Ita, said that his principal, Governor Ben Ayade had also once declared to pay whatever modalities decided by the Federal Government.
According to the Cross River State NLC chairman, Benedict Ukpepi, “there would be no downward review of the new minimum wage in the state”.
