Rivers United maintained their unbeaten start to the Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) season after battling El-Kanemi Warriors to a goalless draw on Sunday in Maiduguri.
The Port Harcourt side frustrated their hosts at the El-Kanemi Stadium to secure their second away point of the campaign. Technical adviser Finidi George praised his players for their resilience, insisting they deserved something from the match.
“Overall, I think we’re quite happy with the result. The first half was 50-50. In the second half, particularly in the last 25 minutes, they pushed us back, and we had to defend while looking to play on the counter attack,” Finidi said.
With one win and two draws from three games, Rivers United sit eighth on the NPFL log with five points.
