Nyesom Wike, the governor of Rivers, has said that his state will not cast a ballot for any party that disregarded the Saturday presidential election’s power shift from the North to the South.
The Governor declared that voters in the State would go to the polls in order to protect the nation’s unity, which could only be ensured by a change in political control.
Wike told the population of Rivers that they would use their ballots to preserve peace and unity and ensure inclusion in administration, describing the nation as diversity.
The Governor spoke on Saturday at the Captain Elechi Amadi Polytechnic’s Field, site of the state PDP’s Obio-Akpor Local Government Area campaign (PDP).
He praised governors who were chosen on the APC platform for their insistence that the center of power must move to the South.
He claimed that the APC governors’ act proved their commitment to the nation’s unity and the necessity for each group to have a share in its future.
The Governor, who urged caution, stated that individuals who are fervently seeking the presidency while undermining the citizenship of other Nigerians should be aware that maintaining peace still holds a greater importance than having an insatiable appetite for power.
We are going to vote to keep Nigeria united, he said. We will cast our votes in favor of justice, equity, and equity. And for that reason, I applaud the APC governorship for stating that a change in power was necessary for the country to become united and go forward as a one entity.
“Those who are power-hungry may obtain power, but they may not experience serenity. Isn’t peace preferable so that you can lead the populace effectively as president? Do you desire a crisis-ridden location?
“We will cast our votes for candidates that have our State’s best interests in mind. When you used to tell me that Rivers State only produces so many votes, that time has past. That’s not a problem for me. What did we receive in return?
“Therefore, you must now inform the Rivers people that this is what you will receive if we vote for you. In politics, you must do for me before I will do for you. I’ll fall for you if you do, too. I’ll push you if you push me. I’ll love you if you love me.
