Tunji Wusu –
Nigerians Roads will be built, according to Works Minister Dave Umahi, to endure at least 50 years without needing repair.
The former governor of Ebonyi state said in an interview with Channels Television on Thursday, August 24, that the state’s roads built during his administration will endure 50 years without maintenance.
He said, “I noticed that some of the projects have failed yet you are still using the roads. I found that the asphalt was running on the Abuja-Lokoja Road.
And if you enter that road quickly, you would be destroyed. In Ebonyi State, I constructed 3,500 kilometers of maintenance-free concrete roads. You wouldn’t maintain it for 50 years.
A road has a lifespan of five to seven years. That ought not to be. And because of this, we spend money on projects all over the place without getting anything in return.
