Cristiano Ronaldo reached another historic milestone on Thursday after scoring his 100th Saudi Pro League goal in Al-Nassr’s 4-2 victory over Al-Shabab.
The Portuguese star found the net with 15 minutes left after connecting with a cross from Sadio Mané at the near post. The strike marked the 971st goal of Ronaldo’s remarkable career and his 26th league goal this season.
The victory moved Al-Nassr five points clear at the top of the table with 82 points from 32 matches. Despite the advantage, title rivals Al-Hilal still have three games left to play, including a crucial derby clash against Al-Nassr next Tuesday.
Speaking after the match, Al-Nassr coach Jorge Jesus praised Ronaldo’s attacking influence. “Ronaldo is always dangerous going forward and we saw that again today,” he said.
Summer signing João Félix, who joined from Chelsea in July, also delivered an outstanding performance by scoring three goals for the league leaders.
Attention now turns to the upcoming Riyadh derby, which could decide the destination of the Saudi Pro League title. Jesus admitted his side understands the importance of the encounter.
“Now we have a derby match against our rival, which is a difficult encounter,” Jesus said. “We are fully aware of its importance, and we are dealing with it with complete focus as we know that small details could decide the result.”
Although Cristiano Ronaldo has continued to break records since arriving in Saudi Arabia in December 2022, the five-time Ballon d’Or winner is still chasing his first major trophy with Al-Nassr.
Can Ronaldo lead Al-Nassr to the Saudi Pro League title this season?
