Rotimi Amaechi visits Dino Melaye during a courtesy meeting in Abuja.

Rotimi Amaechi visits Dino Melaye in Abuja after his emergence as the African Democratic Congress (ADC) vice-presidential candidate, drawing attention to the party’s preparations for the 2027 general election.

Former Kogi West Senator Dino Melaye announced the visit on Monday in a post on X. He said the former Rivers State governor paid him a courtesy visit at his Abuja residence.

Melaye wrote: “Governor Rotimi Amaechi on a courtesy visit to SDM today. Arise and Shine.”

However, he did not disclose the purpose of the meeting. As a result, the discussions between the two politicians remain unknown.

The visit comes shortly after the ADC named Amaechi as the running mate to the party’s presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar, ahead of the 2027 election.

Amaechi secured the vice-presidential ticket after finishing second in the ADC presidential primary.

Meanwhile, Amaechi and the third-placed aspirant, Mohammed Hayatu-Deen, challenged the outcome of the primary. They alleged irregularities in the process that produced Atiku as the party’s presidential candidate.

After the primary election, Atiku met separately with Amaechi and Hayatu-Deen. He urged both politicians to work with him as the ADC begins preparations for the 2027 presidential race.

Although Rotimi Amaechi visits Dino Melaye has attracted political attention, neither Amaechi nor Melaye has released further details about the meeting.

Political observers are expected to watch closely for any developments as the ADC continues efforts to strengthen its campaign structure before the next general election.
