Schoolchildren in Delta State should be delighted since the price of their daily meal through the National Home-Grown School Feeding Program has been increased from N70 to N100 per child.
Dr. Darlington Ijeh, the state’s commissioner for humanitarian and community support services, revealed this in the capital city of Asaba.
He claims, “When I took office three months ago, I inherited a backlog of problems with the NHGSFP, ranging from irregular payment to underpayment, low capturing leading to low figures for chefs, which negatively impacted our students and the state.
Today, the N70 per meal for students has been increased to N100 per meal, and other bureaucratic bottlenecks that plagued the state’s National Home-Grown School Feeding Program, such as underpaying caterers and using indiscriminate payment modules, have been eliminated.
