Opeyemi Bamidele, a senator from Ekiti Central Senatorial District, has urged Nigerians to cast off the yoke of religious intolerance and extremism and stand firmly behind President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s administration to actualize Nigeria’s grandeur.
Then, Bamidele issued a stern warning that no country that carried the banner of religious extremism would ever succeed, declaring that the moment has come for individuals of different religious persuasions to concentrate on the project Nigeria and express their desire to contribute to its radical development.
This was said by the All Progressives Congress stalwart in his message of congratulations to Muslims on the occasion of the Eid-el-Kabir holiday on Monday.
In a meaningful way, Bamidele thanked the Muslim Ummar for their contributions to Nigerian society and urged them to learn from Prophet Ibrahim’s life and times the principles of sacrifice, faithfulness, steadfastness, obedience, and perseverance.
Senator Bamidele made the point that the Tinubu-led administration had pledged to build a great and successful Nigeria, warning that the foundation it was laying would be undermined by the fuelling of religious intolerance.
“I extend my congratulations to all Ummar Muslims on the occasion of Eid-el-Kabir. As we rejoice, let us keep in mind that we have a responsibility to make this nation secure and wealthy for all of us, and that this can only be done with a unification of purpose and a convergence of views. The clever political measures President Tinubu had taken to fix the previously cracked and expanded ethnic and religious faultlines have begun to show the reality of his campaign slogan, “A Renewed Hope. This was demonstrated by the manner he helped Senator Godswill Akpabio win the Senate presidency and graciously gave Christians the position of Secretary to the Government of the Federation in order to balance the Muslim-Muslim presidential ticket.
“I appreciate the profound and crucial contributions of our Muslim brothers to the stability of this country. All the President needed from all Nigerians as the father of the nation was a coalition of efforts with him for the realization of his promise to bring prosperity to every Nigerian’s doorstep, which will impact our lives positively, regardless of religious leanings. They should continue in this manner because it is a difficult duty they bear as followers of the Prophet Mohammad (SWT), whose entire life promotes love, unity, and the concept of live and let live.
