Senator Ahmed Wadada, representing Nasarawa West Senatorial District, has resigned his membership of the Social Democratic Party, SDP, to join the All Progressives Congress, APC.

In a letter addressed to the leadership of the SDP, Senator Wadada said his decision followed wide consultations with his constituents, supporters, and political associates.

He explained that the move became necessary in order to align with the ruling party at the national level and to contribute more effectively to the development of Nasarawa State and Nigeria.

The senator, who was elected into the 10th Senate on the platform of the SDP, noted that his defection would not affect his commitment to providing quality representation for the people of his senatorial district.

Although the letter has not yet been read on the floor of the Senate due to the ongoing recess, sources confirmed that the formal announcement will be made when lawmakers reconvene.

Senator Wadada’s defection further strengthens the numerical strength of the APC in the upper chamber ahead of resumption.
