- Comedian Seyi insists security has improved under Tinubu
- Cites decline in bomb blasts compared to Boko Haram peak
- Activist Zekeri disagrees, backs Peter Obi as better alternative
Nigerian comedian Seyi Law has stirred fresh debate after declaring that Nigeria is safer today than it was a decade ago.
Speaking on The Honest Bunch Podcast, the comic reaffirmed his support for Bola Ahmed Tinubu, arguing that the current administration has recorded notable security gains.
When asked by co-host Daddy Freeze whether the country is safer now than 10 years ago, Seyi Law responded emphatically, “Nigeria is safer now than 10 years ago.” He maintained that the Tinubu-led government has neutralised more bandits than previous administrations since the era of former President Goodluck Jonathan.
He also questioned critics, asking when Nigerians last witnessed widespread bomb blasts, suggesting that the scale of terror seen during the peak of the Boko Haram insurgency has significantly reduced.
However, activist Zekeri, who appeared alongside him, strongly disagreed. He argued that insecurity remains widespread, citing recent attacks in the Northeast, rising kidnappings, and the killing of senior military officers. According to him, many citizens now feel compelled to rely on themselves for safety.
The discussion also turned political, with Zekeri backing Peter Obi as a preferable leader, claiming his finances are traceable “down to every kobo.” Seyi Law countered that Nigeria’s economy is improving under Tinubu and that ongoing reforms, though difficult, are necessary.
The exchange has since generated widespread reactions online, with Nigerians divided over claims about security and economic realities under the current administration.
