The Deputy Governor of Edo State, Philip Shaibu, has laid forth his vision for the South-South state’s development and prosperity ahead of the governorship election in 2024.

Shaibu stated the agenda at a news conference held on Monday in Benin City, the state capital, while expressing his ambition to become the next Edo Governor.

The deputy governor indicated that his campaign will be founded on five basic pillars, each of which is critical to the state’s transformation and prosperity.

Shaibu stated that, among other things, these five pillars of his program embody the values and interests of the people of Edo state.

  • DEVELOPMENT OF INFRASTRUCTURE AND ECONOMIC DIVERSIFICATION
    The deputy governor claimed that he will commit to constructing modern, sustainable infrastructure that will stimulate economic growth and improve people’s quality of life. His administration will create more jobs and economic prosperity for all by diversifying the state’s economy and exploring new growth sectors.
  • SPORTS, EDUCATION, SKILL DEVELOPMENT, AND JOB CREATION
    The deputy governor committed to prioritize the rehabilitation of the state’s educational system, stating that every child deserves a great education that would prepare them to flourish in a fast changing world.

    Shaibu also promised to restore Edo’s glory in the sports industry by ensuring that, like Bendel Insurance, other parts of sports are prioritized so that the city’s teeming youth can demonstrate their talent and make a career via sports.

    Similarly, the deputy governor pledged to provide Edo youths with the required skills to compete in the global job market.

  • SYSTEMS OF HEALTH AND SOCIAL WELFARE.
    The deputy governor promised to launch a complete transformation of our healthcare system, ensuring access, affordability, and quality care for all individuals. Furthermore, Shaibu added that his administration will introduce social welfare programs to assist those in need, thereby providing a safety net for our people.
  • POVERTY ALLEVIATION, AGRICULTURE, AND RURAL DEVELOPMENT
    Shibu vowed to empower farmers in the state, promote sustainable methods, and improve food security in our state. We will provide chances for economic growth and try to alleviate poverty in our rural communities through agricultural programs.
  • SUSTAINABILITY OF THE ENVIRONMENT AND TRANSPARENT GOVERNANCE

To assure the protection of all residents of the state, the deputy governor committed to increase law enforcement and employ community policing initiatives.
