Sim Fubara Blamed as Rivers Crisis Deepens, Ex-PDP Chairman Rejects Anti-Wike Narrative

Sim Fubara blamed by former Rivers State Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Acting Chairman Robinson Ewor, who says Governor Siminalayi Fubara—not FCT Minister Nyesom Wike—was responsible for the political crisis in Rivers State. Sim Fubara blamed became the focus of his remarks during an interview on Arise Television.

Speaking on The Morning Show, Ewor argued that many Rivers residents were initially misled about the feud between Wike and Fubara. However, he said events have changed public perception.

“The perception was that Wike stopped the governor from working,” Ewor said. “Today, we have realised the problem was not Wike but the governor’s inability to remain open to the people.”

The political battle between the two leaders triggered months of instability in Rivers State. It eventually led to Fubara’s six-month suspension before President Bola Tinubu and other political stakeholders brokered peace.

However, despite the reconciliation, Fubara later lost out during the All Progressives Congress (APC) primary election.

Meanwhile, the governor recently announced that Rivers State would embrace the Rainbow Coalition championed by Wike, signalling a fresh political alignment.

Ewor maintained that supporters of the governor now see the crisis differently.

“The facts we had then are not the facts we have today,” he said. “We now understand that Wike was not preventing the governor from carrying out his duties.”

His comments add another dimension to the debate over the Rivers political crisis and may reignite discussions over the roles played by both leaders. Sim Fubara blamed remains at the centre of Ewor’s argument as political observers continue to assess the fallout from the prolonged power struggle.
