8,975 liters of gasoline put into 25-liter kegs have been seized by the Nigerian Customs Service’s Kebbi State Command from alleged traffickers.

In a chat with journalists, Comptroller B Oramalugo, the Customs Area Controller, claimed that the command had seized various commodities totaling N91,518,928 in duty-paid value in just three weeks.

189 bags of foreign parboiled rice, 71 bags of imported sugar, 42 bales of old textiles, and 36 sacks of used shoes are among the items the command has confiscated.

Seven used vehicles used as means of transportation, 110 solar batteries, 105 cartons of medicine, 74 cartons of bleaching cream, 110 cartons of solar batteries, one tanker truck suspected of having been smuggled into the country in violation of a current Federal Government policy that forbids the importation of vehicles through land borders

However, the Comptroller disclosed that the confiscated PMS would be put up for auction right after the briefing.

“It is distressing that some unscrupulous residents chose to reroute the product to our neighboring nations for their selfish financial benefits, despite the massive sum paid by government to make PMS available to citizens at an affordable price,” he stated.

He claimed that the command had the tools necessary to fulfill its obligations under the Customs and Excise Management Act.
