Reports of the alleged death of renowned international evangelist, Rev. Uma Ukpai, have set social media abuzz, though no official confirmation has come from his family.
The revered cleric, who founded the Uma Ukpai Evangelistic Association, a non-denominational Christian ministry headquartered in Uyo, Akwa Ibom State, was said to have passed on, according to posts circulating online.
Speculation intensified after Prophet Joel Ogebe shared a cryptic message on X (formerly Twitter), writing: “A giant has gone to be with the Lord. My father, my father, the chariot of Israel. Heaven rejoices. Uyo.” Though Ogebe did not name anyone, many users interpreted the message as a reference to Rev. Ukpai.
Further fueling the rumours, a Christian media platform, Church Gist, announced on Facebook: “A GENERAL TAKES A BOW! EVANGELIST UMA UKPAI HAS GONE TO BE WITH THE LORD. REST IN POWER, SIR.”
As of the time of filing this report, the evangelist’s family and ministry have yet to release an official statement confirming or refuting the reports.
Rev. Uma Ukpai is widely known for his decades-long evangelical ministry, healing crusades, and nationwide impact on Christian faith and revival in Nigeria.
