In a historic speech before Israel’s parliament on Monday, U.S. President Donald Trump became the first sitting American leader since 2008 to address the Knesset, declaring the end of war in Gaza and the beginning of what he called “an age of faith, hope, and God.”

Speaking to an overflowing chamber in Jerusalem, Trump described it as a “great honor” to stand before Israeli lawmakers, opening his remarks with a prayerful note of gratitude. “Today is a day to give thanks to the Almighty God of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob,” he said.

The address came on the heels of a newly brokered Gaza ceasefire that ended two years of intense conflict. “Today the skies are calm, the guns are silent, the sirens are still, and the sun rises on a Holy Land that is finally at peace,” Trump declared, drawing thunderous applause.

The president lauded the bravery of 20 hostages who were freed earlier in the day and reunited with their families, describing them as “symbols of courage, survival, and the unbreakable spirit of the Israeli people.”

Trump voiced optimism that the peace agreement would mark a permanent shift in regional relations. “May this region live in peace for all eternity,” he said. “It is not only the end of war—it is also the end of an age of terror and death, and the beginning of an age of faith, hope, and of God.”

Calling the development “the historic dawn of a new Middle East,” Trump promised deeper cooperation between Israel and its neighbors. “This is an age of concord—a time when enemies become partners and faith triumphs over fear,” he concluded, earning a standing ovation from lawmakers across party lines.
