Babatunji Wusu –

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) source has verified Olu Agunloye’s arrest as a former minister of state for power.

Remember how the anti-graft bureau had declared Agulonye wanted around a week ago due to a $6 billion fraud that was allegedly connected to the contentious Mambilla hydropower project?

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) is reportedly investigating allegations of corruption and forgery against Olu Agunloye, whose portrait is seen above. The public is therefore advised of this, the EFCC stated on its social media accounts.

Please get in touch with the agency if you have any valuable information regarding his whereabouts.

But according to an agency source who talked with Channels Television on Tuesday, the former minister has been in custody since December 13, 2023.

The insider stated, “He has been with the EFCC since December 13th, but it was not made public.”

Under President Olusegun Obasanjo’s administration, Agunloye served as a minister (1999–2003). He has been at the center of the Mambilla project issue.

He was accused by Obasanjo of illegally awarding the project’s contract without the Federal Executive Council’s (FEC) consent. However, Agunloye refuted the charges and asserted that the outgoing president was falsifying information.

Regarding the same matter, the former minister was questioned by the EFCC in September.
