Stakeholders across Nigeria’s financial sector, business community and investment space have praised Minister of Finance Taiwo Oyedele for restoring confidence in the Federal Ministry of Finance, saying his leadership has strengthened fiscal coordination and renewed trust in the ministry’s role in driving the Federal Government’s economic agenda.

Representatives from the organised private sector, professional bodies and the investment community said the ministry has undergone significant changes under Taiwo Oyedele, pointing to improved stakeholder engagement, greater transparency and a more coordinated approach to economic management.

According to them, the renewed confidence reflects a shift from years marked by policy uncertainty, weak communication and limited consultation with key players in the economy.

The President of the Chartered Institute of Taxation of Nigeria (CITN), Samuel Agbeluyi, said Taiwo Oyedele has introduced professionalism and strategic direction through regular consultations and evidence-based policymaking.

He added that the minister’s inclusive leadership has strengthened cooperation between government, businesses and development partners, boosting confidence in Nigeria’s fiscal management.

The Nigeria Employers’ Consultative Association (NECA) also commended the ministry for becoming more responsive to the concerns of the organised private sector. It noted that ongoing engagement with businesses has improved understanding of government policies and created a more predictable business environment.

Tax expert Daniel Ikedi credited Taiwo Oyedele with improving coordination among key economic institutions, enhancing communication on fiscal policies and advancing reforms aimed at increasing revenue mobilisation, strengthening public finance management and improving investor confidence.

Another stakeholder, Faith Aina, said the ministry’s renewed momentum marks a significant departure from the past and expressed optimism that it is once again providing the leadership needed to support Nigeria’s economic recovery and long-term development.

Do you think stronger collaboration between government and the private sector can accelerate Nigeria’s economic growth?
