There were reports from a The Premier News, that Otunba Ajanaku had reached a compromise to dump the Zenith Labour Party (ZLP) for the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).
But Ajanaku in a statement issued by his Media Team on Wednesday which was described the report as not only unfounded, but a fake news in its entirety.
He said, “our attention has been drawn to a story published by an online medium, (name withheld). The cooked story is not only unfounded, but a fake news in its entirety.
“We are surprised that a medium could still continue spreading fake news, when the government of the day completely frowns at it. The ethics of journalism demand that the three key elements of truth, objectivity and fairness should guide a professional journalist in his write-ups. Any deviation from this amount to quackery which has been the bane of the profession. A well-trained journalist must always be factual.
“Truly, Hon Rotimi Ajanaku contested the election to the House of Representatives on February 23, 2019 on the platform of Zenith Labour Party (ZLP). Based on his amiable personally, he performed creditably well, but couldn’t win because the party has no visible political structure in his constituency (Ibadan Northwest/Southwest). Up till now he has not declared his support for any other party, including his former party, All Progressives Congress (APC). If he is to take any position on supporting any party, his followers will be in the know. He doesn’t decide unilaterally.
“So, the story is just an assumption and a figment of the imagination of the writer. He has not returned to APC”, the statement concluded.
