Nigeria’s Super Falcons will throw open their training camp on Friday, February 20, as preparations intensify for the 2026 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON).
Head coach Justine Madugu will lead the squad into camp in Abuja, where initial sessions will hold before the team jets out to Abidjan, Côte d’Ivoire, for the WAFU B Women’s Invitational Tournament.
The regional competition, scheduled for February 27 to March 7, will feature Ghana and Senegal, with the defending champions also expected to line up. The tournament will form a key part of Nigeria’s build-up, as the Super Falcons are projected to engage in additional international friendlies ahead of the WAFCON 2026 finals.
Beyond regional bragging rights, the WAFU B tournament carries global significance, serving as part of the qualification pathway for the 2027 FIFA Women’s World Cup, to be hosted by Brazil. Africa will be represented by the four teams that reach the semi-final stage.
At the continental level, Nigeria have been drawn into Group C of the 2026 WAFCON, where they will battle Zambia, Egypt and Malawi for a place in the knockout rounds.
