The Abia State Government has commenced formal implementation of the Supreme Court judgment that settled the protracted land dispute between Ndi Ebe and Ndi Ojiugwo Abam in Arochukwu Local Government Area.

The apex court had ruled in favour of Ndi Ebe, bringing legal clarity to years of contest over the disputed territory.

Addressing representatives of both communities, the Deputy Governor of Abia State and Chairman of the State Boundary Committee, Ikechukwu Emetu, assured stakeholders that the demarcation exercise would strictly comply with the Supreme Court’s directive. He stressed that the process would be driven by fairness, transparency and adherence to due procedure.

Emetu, represented by the Abia State Boundary Consultant, Chris Nwanevo, cautioned residents against interfering with the exercise. He declared that no villagers would be allowed at the demarcation site until officials conclude the assignment, underscoring government’s determination to prevent tension or disruption.

He further disclosed that, upon completion, leaders and stakeholders from both communities would be invited to review the outcome to ensure clarity, mutual understanding and broad acceptance. According to him, the move aligns with Governor Alex Otti’s commitment to peace, stability and unity across Abia State.

The Boundary Committee also assured residents of adequate security deployment throughout the exercise to safeguard lives and maintain order.

“We are here to officially notify you that work has commenced in the area as directed by the Supreme Court ruling in favour of Ndi Ebe,” Emetu stated.

Traditional rulers and community representatives attended the meeting, including Ezeogo Okoko Arunsi for Ndi Ebe and Ezeogo Augustine Ota Ola for Ndi Ojiugwo Abam.

The government’s action marks a decisive step toward enforcing the Supreme Court judgment and restoring lasting peace in the affected communities.
