Taraba State Police Command officers during professionalism and intelligence-led policing lecture

|By Adejumo Adekunle and Awaji-Ichiem-  The Taraba State Police Command has been urged to strengthen professionalism, discipline and intelligence-led policing as part of efforts to improve security across the state.

The call came from the Assistant Inspector General of Police in charge of Zone 3 Headquarters, Yola, Akinwale Kunle Adeniran, during a familiarisation visit to the command on Thursday.

Addressing officers and personnel, Adeniran stressed that Nigeria’s security challenges demand a professional, disciplined and intelligence-driven police force capable of responding effectively to emerging threats.

He urged officers of the Taraba State Police Command to intensify intelligence gathering, increase visibility patrols, work closely with other security agencies and respond swiftly to distress calls.

The AIG also highlighted public health concerns, including Ebola and other communicable diseases, noting that Taraba’s proximity to international borders requires heightened vigilance and cooperation with health authorities.

Furthermore, he warned against corruption and misconduct, insisting that integrity, accountability and respect for human rights remain essential to building public trust.

Adeniran described discipline as the foundation of effective policing and called on officers to uphold high standards of conduct, respect the chain of command and maintain professionalism at all times.

He also reaffirmed the Nigeria Police Force’s commitment to the Safe School Initiative, directing officers to strengthen security around educational institutions.

According to him, continuous training, proper weapon handling and adherence to operational procedures will help the Taraba State Police Command improve security outcomes and strengthen public confidence.
