Mr. Peter Obi, a presidential candidate for the Labour Party (LP), claims that his financial restraint in the administration of public funds has earned him the reputation of being stingy.

Those who lose out when financial waste in the system is stopped see it as being stingy, according to Obi, who calls such labeling as false.

The presidential candidate discussed instances of his frugal use of public funds while appearing as a special guest on the Human Rights Radio in Abuja, also known as Berekete Radio. He made the point that corrupt people respond when you stop them by calling you frugal.

Saving money, in his opinion, is not mandated by Nigeria’s constitution, but “my Presidency will change our sharing mentality to saving and production mentality,” he said.

In regards to corruption, Obi noted that if elected into office, he would face the future because he would not want to shut down operations while pursuing thieves.

He characterized nepotism as a major form of corruption, particularly when decision-makers choose unqualified individuals who may come from the same family as them and award them contracts and land.

Obi refuted the idea that he would change once in office, pointing out that wealth and influence reveal a person’s true nature.

The candidate claimed that the North was the new source of oil and gold for Nigeria, but that it could only be unlocked by someone with his level of expertise and his vice.

“Only through production can the nation’s poverty be alleviated, and only by reducing its crimes and criminalities.” The idle factory workers who are those bandits.

Obi stated that the Biafran War ended 52 years ago in response to the movement for Biafra, emphasizing that “I am a Nigerian and running for President as a Nigerian.”

“As an Igbo, it’s my turn, but I’m in the running as a Nigerian who wants to be hired based on my track record, competence, and capacity,” he continued.

He regretted that Nigerian leaders had neglected the people they were in charge of without enough consideration for their plight.

By transforming grace into entitlement, they irritate God.

He continued by saying that in democracies, the common people—the underprivileged and poor—become the nation’s owners.

He asserted that the general populace must play a significant role in choosing the nation’s leaders. He claimed that they can only use their Permanent Voters Card to do that.
