Three members of the House of Representatives from Kaduna State have dumped the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) for the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), deepening the ongoing shift of political loyalties ahead of the next election cycle.
The defectors are Aliyu Abdullahi (Ikara/Kubau Federal Constituency), Abdulkareem Ahmed (Kaduna South Federal Constituency), and Sadiq Abdullahi (Sabon Gari Federal Constituency). Their formal letters of defection were read on the floor of the House on Tuesday by Deputy Speaker Benjamin Kalu during plenary.
The lawmakers cited alignment with the APC’s policies and vision as reasons for their defection, though the PDP has yet to issue an official response.
Their exit came on the same day Governor Peter Mbah of Enugu State also crossed over to the APC alongside several top politicians in the state, signaling what observers describe as a growing realignment within the political landscape.
The recent wave of defections is expected to reshape political dynamics across several states as the 2027 general elections draw closer.
