In the Balasore area of Odisha, India, an accident involving two passenger trains and a goods train has resulted in more than 200 fatalities and hundreds more injuries.

At least 233 people were killed and 900 more were hurt in the nation’s worst train catastrophe in recent memory, which occurred on June 2.

The death toll is anticipated to grow as teams conduct a massive rescue operation, according to the state’s chief secretary Pradeep Jena, who confirmed the findings on Twitter.

In addition to the 80 doctors already present, he continued by saying that more than 200 ambulances had been dispatched to the accident site.

According to India Times, the incident began just after 7 p.m. when two coaches of the Sir Visweswaraya Terminal-Howrah Superfast Express derailed.

At the same time, the Coromandel express crashed with the derailed bogies at a high rate of speed coming from the opposite side on a parallel track headed for Chennai.
