Babatunji Wusu –
The immediate payment of insurance benefits owed to the families of officers and soldiers who died while defending the country has been ordered by President Bola Tinubu.
This was announced by the Chief of Army Staff (COAS), Lt.-Gen. Taoreed Lagbaja, on Tuesday in Abuja at the start of the Combined Second and Third Quarters COAS Conference.
Army field commanders and leaders of institutions and establishments are said to be present at the conference.
Lagbaja declared that the wellbeing of the military and its members was of utmost significance and promised to combine all current welfare programs in order to improve the welfare of the military and its members and keep them focused on their duties.
‘Affordable Home Ownership Option for All Soldiers Scheme’, which was recently established and is intended to give our soldiers with high-quality, affordable post-service homes, will be implemented in addition to providing proper living quarters for our personnel.
We’ll also make sure our wounded soldiers receive the best medical attention, and we’ll keep helping the widows and other family members of our dead heroes.
Lagbaja thanked President Tinubu for ordering that any outstanding insurance payments owed to the families be made right away and for giving the Armed Forces strategic direction.
“I want to reiterate our unwavering loyalty and pledge our total commitment to the defense of the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria,” he declared on behalf of the officers and troops of the Nigerian Army.
The COAS asked army men to continue collaborating with other security organizations to firmly address the security issues the nation is currently experiencing.
His command philosophy was to “transform the Nigerian Army into a well-trained force, equipped and highly motivated force towards achieving constitutional responsibilities within a joint environment,” he explained to the audience.
He claimed that the army’s actions and engagements in all operations inside and outside of Nigeria would be guided and motivated by the doctrine.
Maj.-Gen. Abdulsalam Ibrahim, the Chief of Policy and strategies, stated in his speech that the purpose of the conference was for the officers to strategize on the current situation of the Nigerian army and create strategies for upcoming engagements.
Ibrahim claimed that the meeting provided the COAS with a place to physically explain his command ethos to the heads of institutions and organizations as well as to field commanders.
He said that the army’s kinetic activities in many theaters of operations had continued to achieve previously unheard-of accomplishments, just as its non-kinetic efforts had done in the past.
“The occurrence in Niger State should not demoralize us; instead, we should step up our efforts to hold our enemies accountable for their actions until they either vanish or submit.
“This conference is intended to give us a venue to consider our accomplishments while evaluating our operations and activities in the second and third quarters of this year to develop strategies that are in line with our overarching objectives.
Additionally, it will provide us the chance to have frank discussions, make wise judgments, and ensure that our operations are more successful, he added.
According to NAN, Lagbaja took advantage of the occasion to give eight Regimental Sergeant Majors (RSMs) from various army units and formations a brand-new Toyota Hilux car apiece.
