On Monday, President Bola Tinubu called for public-private funding for Nigerian academic institutions. This occurred in the midst of nationwide university tuition cost increases.
The president did, however, assert that Nigerian institutions would have access to the necessary funding to raise the standard of higher education in the nation with the correct combination of public and private funding.
During the 37th and 38th joint convocation ceremonies of the University of Ilorin (UNILORIN), he made this statement in the capital city of Kwara State, Ilorin.
Under the leadership of Yusuf Tanko Sununu, the Minister of State for Education, the President urged “corporate bodies, communities and individuals to support our universities.”
Prof. Wahab Egbewole, the vice chancellor, has already praised the president’s resolve to turn around higher education.
