A legal practitioner, Festus Ogwuche, has asserted that President Bola Tinubu will consistently place the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, at an advantage amid the lingering political tension in Rivers State.
Ogwuche made the claim during an interview on Prime Time, aired on Arise Television on Tuesday, where he faulted the political calculations of Rivers State Governor, Siminalayi Fubara.
According to him, Fubara failed to properly weigh the political implications of his defection to the All Progressives Congress (APC), particularly in relation to Wike’s influence at the federal level.
Ogwuche argued that the Rivers governor underestimated the depth of the relationship between President Tinubu and the former Rivers State governor, describing it as far more than a conventional godfather–godson alliance.
“The relationship between Wike and Tinubu goes beyond a godfather-godson arrangement,” he said. “It runs deeper, into certain undercurrents that many people cannot fully understand. In this crisis, the president will always place Wike at an advantage.”
He maintained that this political reality continues to shape the balance of power in the Rivers State crisis, to the disadvantage of the incumbent governor.
