To prevent a crisis and the breakdown of the state’s peace, Ondo State Governor Rotimi Akeredolu has issued a warning against any traditional ruler in the state expanding their domain without the state’s permission. He says the state government will not accept such behavior.
At the official Staff of Office presentation to Oba Aderemi Ilesanmi Ogidan, the Alase of Ase Akoko, in the state’s Akoko Northwest local government area, Akeredolu issued the warning.
The governor, who was represented by the Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Akogun Akinwunmi Sowore, cautioned traditional leaders against enlarging their sphere of influence to include areas outside of their control, stating that the government would not tolerate anything that would endanger the country.
The governor congratulated Oba Aderemi Ogidan and the Eja ruling house that gave birth to him and said that his selection and installation followed the proper procedures because the government has always maintained neutrality in oba selection and will continue to do so as long as this responsibility is left to the communities.
The Governor urged the populace to provide him the assistance and support he needs to succeed while advising the monarch to act as a father to everyone in his realm.
He reaffirmed the government’s commitment to enhancing the quality of life for State residents by delivering fundamental social services in accordance with its REDEEMED Agenda.
He requested the traditional leaders’ assistance in addressing insecurity in their spheres of influence, emphasizing that it has turned into a national security threat and that no government is able to address insecurity successfully and alone on its own.
