Tunji Wusu –
The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) candidate Ladi Adebutu’s exhibits were accepted by the Ogun governor election petition tribunal on Thursday. Adebutu is opposing the reelection of All Progressives Congress (APC) Governor Dapo Abiodun.
BVAS reports and invoices from the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), among other documents, are among the exhibits.
Mr. Abiodun received 276,298 votes, according to INEC, while Mr. Adebutu received 262,383 votes to finish in second place.
The petitioner had submitted the roughly 8,000 documents to the tribunal on Tuesday, asking for their admission to the bar.
However, the respondents’ attorney pleaded with the tribunal to let his clients first view the materials.
They were granted two days by the tribunal to review the documents.
Gordy Uche, the petitioners’ attorney, notified the court that the inspection had been completed when the hearing resumed on Thursday.
Both Remi Olatubora, counsel for INEC, and Titilola Akinlawon, counsel for Mr. Abiodun, verified the assertion, with the latter adding that she would save any objections to the documents’ inclusion until the final addresses.
In a similar vein, Onyechi Ikpeazu, an attorney for the APC, stated that the party was holding off on objecting to some of the documents until the final addresses.
The Hamidu Kunaza-led tribunal decided to accept all of the bar’s exhibits.
“All documents are to be admitted from the bar and objections reserved until final addresses,” the tribunal’s chairman, Mr. Kunaza, stated.
One certificate of compliance, a receipt from INEC, 176-page BVAS reports, Form EC8A declarations of results from INEC, Form EC8D summaries of results from local governments, and Form EC8Cs for the 20 LGAs are just a few of the documents accepted.
Form EC8Bs for Abeokuta North, Abeokuta South, Ado-Odo/Ota, Egbado North, Egbado South, Ewekoro, Ifo, Ijebu North, Ijebu North, Ijebu-Ode, Ikenne, Remo North, Odogbolu, Sagamu, and other areas are also available.
