TRIBUNAL DENIES GOV. SANI’S REQUEST TO HAVE ASHIRU AND THE PDP’S PETITION DISMISSED.

The PDP and its candidate, Isah Mohammed Ashiru, filed a petition with the Governorship Election Petition Tribunal, which is based in Kaduna. Uba Sani raised a preliminary objection on the petition’s timeliness, but it was overruled.
The legal team for Sani claimed the petition was submitted outside of the authorized window of 21 days.

The petition was indeed submitted on April 10, 2023, as the court confirmed.

Therefore, the petition of Governor Uba Sani, the second respondent in the case, was denied by the three-person panel headed by Justice Victor Oviawe.

The tribunal is deliberating a different appeal submitted by the defendants, in which they requested that the PDP and Ashiru’s petition be dismissed for being abandoned.
