Babatunji Wusu –

On Wednesday, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, the governor of Lagos State, declared that the Red Line Rail project would be finished by the end of the year.

Sanwo-Olu made this statement on X (previously Twitter) after thoroughly inspecting the Red Line’s infrastructure and traveling through its key stops.

“I think we’ll be done with the project by the end of the year. To ensure that they complete the project on schedule, we will pressure the contractors to work nonstop.

He further stated that the Lagos Metropolitan Area Transport Authority (LAMATA) is in charge of carrying out the building of the Red Line project, which was conceived of and initiated by his administration.

The train project has an Agbado beginning and an Oyingbo end. People can’t wait for it to be finished and the day they can start utilizing it, according to Sanwo-Olu.

The Nigerian Railways Corporation (NRC)-owned Lateef Jakande Station is being erected hundreds of meters distant from the rail terminal that Sanwo-Olu visited in Agbado to assess as part of his inspection tour on Wednesday.

The Lagos State governor said, “We could see the condition of the stations and their platforms at all the stops we made.

Although the red line infrastructure is nearing completion, he claimed that some work still has to be done, particularly in the area of cleaning up all improper activities that are now taking place on the rail route.

“We are also making a final pass over any remaining pedestrian bridges on the route. Sanwo-Olu stated, “I am truly satisfied with the caliber of work being done by all contractors on the Red Line project.

“However, we cannot take security precautions for granted. Before we launch it, everything needs to be ready.
