Troops of Operation FANSAN YAMMA have arrested a suspected supplier of equipment to terrorist groups and recovered a large quantity of tactical items during an operation in Zamfara State.

According to an operational report made available on Thursday, the suspect was apprehended by soldiers of Sector II during a routine stop-and-search exercise along the Sokoto-Gusau Road on Wednesday.

The military disclosed that the suspect was travelling in a Honda Civic vehicle when troops discovered several items believed to be linked to criminal activities. During the search, soldiers recovered 150 pairs of combat boots, along with other tactical materials concealed inside the vehicle.

Items seized during the operation included three jackknives, three electric shockers, a tear gas canister, a military beret and a belt. Security personnel also recovered two Android mobile phones, an iPad and a digital wristwatch, which investigators believe may contain valuable intelligence.

The military described the arrest as a significant achievement in ongoing efforts to disrupt networks that provide support and supplies to terrorists and bandits operating across the North-West. Officials noted that cutting off access to equipment and logistics remains a key strategy in weakening criminal groups and limiting their ability to carry out attacks.

According to the report, the suspect remains in custody while further investigations continue. The recovered items have been secured as evidence for the ongoing probe.

Military authorities stated that the success of the operation highlights the effectiveness of intensified security checks being carried out under Operation FANSAN YAMMA. The initiative aims to restrict the movement of terrorists, intercept supplies and strengthen security across affected communities.

The Armed Forces also reaffirmed their commitment to sustaining operations against terrorist groups and their collaborators in order to restore lasting peace and stability in Zamfara State and the wider North-West region.
