Nollywood actor Uzor Arukwe has declared an elderly man wanted over an alleged mobile phone theft during the burial ceremony of late actor Cjay Nwok in Lagos.

Arukwe made the announcement in an Instagram post, alleging that the man stole phones belonging to actor Rex Kingsley during a service of songs held at a Redeemed Christian Church of God in Gbagada.

The ceremony honoured Nwok, whose death prompted colleagues and associates to gather to pay their respects.

In his post, Arukwe wrote, “This man is wanted.” He also alleged that closed-circuit television (CCTV) footage captured the man during the incident.

According to Arukwe, the man disappeared after the alleged theft.

The actor appealed to members of the public who may recognise the man or know his whereabouts to contact Kingsley.

He also urged social media users to share the man’s photograph to help establish his identity.

However, the allegations have not been independently verified. There is no information in the statement provided about whether the police have received a formal complaint or launched an investigation into the incident.

The alleged theft has drawn attention to the circumstances surrounding the gathering, where actors and other guests had assembled to honour the late Cjay Nwok.

Arukwe’s announcement places the focus on efforts to identify the man and recover the allegedly stolen phones.

Neither the identity of the man nor the current whereabouts of the missing phones were provided in the account.

The allegations remain claims made by the actor. Any further developments, including a police response or recovery of the phones, would help clarify the circumstances of the incident.
